Nation-Wide Voter Suppression Plan

Here’s a link to a petition to stop this grab for our personal data! (https://secure2.convio.net/comcau/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=2169&sp_ref=315816852.214.181739.e.579896.2&s_subsrc=taf_email)

More than 20 states have now refused to provide voters’ private information as requested. The leader of this commission and “brains” behind the request is Kris Kobach. Check him out here. If you haven’t already seen the request for voter information that the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity has sent to each of the 50 states. You might want to check this article out. If you don’t live in California, Kentucky, Virginia, New York, or Massachusetts, states that have already refused to comply with the request; you might want to contact your Secretary of State or in the case of Alaska, our Lt. Governor Byron Mallott (907.465.3520) to voice any concerns you might have with your data being provided. Lt Governor Mallott’s office did tell me today that they have the request and are reviewing it at this time. I got on a mailing list so that I will be informed when they have made a decision. I shared with them my objections to providing my data this way.

Like most state, Alaska does have voter information that by law is accessible by the public. For example:
• status (active or inactive)
• name
• residence address (if not requested, to be maintained as confidential)
• mailing address
• registration dates
• party affiliation
• district and precinct designation
• history
While the Commission’s request also asks for this confidential information:
• voter number
• social security number (SSN)
• last four numbers of SSN
• Alaska driver's license number
• state identification number
• date of birth
• place of birth
• telephone number
• primary ballot choice
• signature
• residence address

I don’t know about you but I protect my social security number, Alaskan driver’s license number, my ballot choice and signature very carefully. Essentially, those items are the keys to the kingdom of data about me and my accounts.
