Backing In – Lakeside, CA

Well, it took us only 20 minutes to drive over here from Santee but another hour plus to position the rig in our space. It is sort of like a parallel parking spot. Luckily, the space directly in front of ours was empty. But it wasn’t lucky enough for the light fixture on the pole separating the two sites; we knocked the fixture loose with our high-profile 5th wheel - the light does still work. We informed the office and will pay for the repair out of our site deposit when we leave.

As happens sometimes in older parks the width of the space isn’t enough to accommodate the added slide-outs. So, we needed to park on the concrete pad on the door side. That isn’t allowed by park regulations so we needed to put down something (we chose to cut up an old entry rug) under the tires. It can be as tricky as getting the rig into the space with at least enough space for the slide outs and parking the truck after un-hooking.
