Coming back from Ventura we stopped off at the Gaviota rest stop to give Karma (and us) a bathroom walk-about break and to change drivers. Coming out of the rest stop we immediately entered a tunnel and came out in a valley. The temperatures began to rise from the 75ᵒF (24ᵒC) that we had experienced on the other side. Very quickly we needed to turn on the air conditioner as the temps kept rising, finally stopping at 99ᵒF (37ᵒC) for approximately 24 miles. Once we broke from the hills keeping the cooling Pacific breezes away, the temperatures dropped back to the mid-70s as quickly as they had risen just minutes before.
